Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction
Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund couldn't quite match Bayern in the race for the league title, but securing second place is still an achievement to be proud of. Despite losing three out of the last four Bundesliga matches, neither the fans nor the coaching staff are overly disheartened, but it has certainly bruised the players' pride. Playing their final home match of the season, there's no doubt Borussia Dortmund will give it their all, especially against an opponent that's clearly stuck in a rut.
Due to injuries, Can, Nmecha, and Süle will not make it to the field for the home team. Adeyemi and Bensebaini are also doubtful for participation.
Eintracht Frankfurt
Frankfurt isn't quite themselves lately, having an alarming dip in form towards the season's end. With only two wins in their last eight matches — against Heidenheim (1:0) and Wolfsburg (2:1), both at the bottom of the league — they risk missing out on European competitions next season. The fact that the "Eagles" have gathered just one point from the last nine available has infuriated the club bosses.
In Eintracht's lineup, Christensen is serving a suspension, while Grahl and Collins are nursing injuries in the treatment room.
Prediction
With the last game of the season at the Signal Iduna Park, Frankfurt faces a daunting challenge. This is especially true given their dismal performance in the last six outings, managing only a solitary win against Bundesliga straggler Wolfsburg (2:1). The Eagles' players have had disputes with the coaching staff, jeopardizing their chance to play European football next season. Borussia Dortmund has been stellar at home, winning 9 out of their last 10 matches in the league. They've also been dominant against Eintracht, defeating them six times in the last seven meetings at home, each time by at least a two-goal margin. I'm backing the home side to win with a -1.5 handicap.
