CSKA Moscow vs UNICS prediction
CSKA Moscow
For Andreas Pistiolis and his squad, the playoffs have been a resounding success so far. In the first round, they breezed past Enisey, securing three victories with an impressive minimum margin of 18 points each time. However, in the semifinal's opening game against Lokomotiv-Kuban, the army men stumbled, losing 88-97 in overtime. Despite matching their opponents in regulation time, they couldn't pull it off in overtime.
Nonetheless, this setback hardly dented the Moscow club's formidable game, as they clinched the next four wins, each with at least a 10-point advantage. In their initial final showdown against UNICS, they utterly dominated (91-63), and it's likely the upcoming encounter will follow a similar script.
UNICS
The path to the finals for Velimir Perasović and his team hasn’t been quite as smooth. Sure, they cruised past MBA with ease, but against Zenit, they only claimed victory in the first game after an overtime struggle (107-104). Zenit then went on to defeat them three times in a row, and quite comprehensively, leaving Kazan with little chance of rebounding.
It seemed like a finals appearance for UNICS was out of reach. However, just when Zenit's game fell apart, UNICS stepped up their defensive play and racked up three consecutive wins. The challenge remains, though, as CSKA seems to be a cut above the rest of the league. Aside from the first quarter of their previous match, which ended in a draw, CSKA decisively outplayed Kazan.
Prediction
In 2026, the rivals have already faced off four times (including once in the finals). CSKA boasts three wins, each more emphatic than the last. Their 28-point lead in the previous match underscored the minuscule chances the Kazan club has for success, especially in Moscow.
Given these circumstances, I believe it’s sensible to back another Moscow victory in today’s meeting, even with a certain handicap. While a repeat of a 28-point dominance seems unlikely, a win by 10 points or more is well within their grasp.
