After a hard-fought 1-0 win against Leeds—a game where their new signing, who's fitting nicely into City's plans, scored—the gap with the Londoners is just 2 points (currently 5, but with a game in hand against Nottingham). Meanwhile, Manchester boasts 8 wins in their last 9 games, showcasing a deep bench. With Forest in their current state, it's clear the Citizens are playing for the win. Guardiola and Kovacic won't feature in this matchup, and the participation of Haaland, Alleyne, and O'Riley remains uncertain.

Nottingham, now on their fourth manager of the season, are battling to stay afloat in the Premier League after a top-six finish last season. Prediction
In the first round, these teams played in Nottingham just a few months ago before New Year, where City narrowly secured a 2-1 victory on the road. Since then, the "Citizens" have strengthened and fine-tuned their squad, while Nottingham changed their manager yet again. Back on home turf at the Etihad, and with Forest's recent run of 3 straight losses coupled with City's impressive form (6 wins in their last 7 games), there's little doubt that with the backing of their fans, this victory over "the Forest" will be commanding and decisive. Nottingham's recent Europa League matches have left them physically drained, and facing a high tempo and intensive play will only add to their struggles. The last meeting at the Etihad ended with a 3-0 thrashing in City's favour, and that was when City was weaker and without Rodri. Now they're stronger and with him, I'm expecting the favourite to win on quality, pace, freshness, and fan support by at least two goals.
