New York Knicks vs San Antonio Spurs prediction
New York Knicks
Mike Brown's squad is inching ever closer to that championship trophy, now just two steps away from the ultimate prize. Their biggest challenges came early in the playoffs when they found themselves trailing 1-2 in the series against the Atlanta Hawks, with both of those losses coming by just one point each. Since then, however, the Knicks have been unstoppable, stringing together a remarkable 13-game winning streak.
Throughout the playoffs, they haven't lost a single game by more than one point. As for the finals, the New Yorkers managed to snag two victories on the road, winning 105-92 and 105-104, showcasing their solid stability in offense and exhibiting reliable defense. They're certainly a force to be reckoned with.
San Antonio Spurs
On the flip side, Mitch Johnson's crew is finding their journey getting trickier with each passing round. They kicked off by besting Portland (4-1), followed by victories over Minnesota (4-2), and Oklahoma (4-3). They've yet to face the challenge of rallying from a 0-2 deficit, and complicating matters further is the fact that they've already dropped both games on home turf. Their track record on the road isn't particularly stellar either.
Take Oklahoma, for instance, where they were defeated twice away from home, with another loss to Minnesota thrown into the mix. So, it seems like a tall order for them to turn things around, needing to grab two wins on foreign soil. The odds certainly don't favor them.
Prediction
The Knicks have emerged victorious in 4 out of the last 5 head-to-head matches, and in this current playoff run, they boast an extraordinary streak of 13 consecutive wins. Furthermore, in this cup battle (16 games), the New York team hasn't yet lost by more than one point. This alone is a compelling reason to back them with a +2.5 point spread.
Moreover, the Spurs haven't exactly been convincing when playing away, losing two out of their last three games on the road. Frankly speaking, in terms of basketball quality, the Knicks have been the superior team in the initial matchups.
