Paul has already managed to win one of the clay tournaments this season, which is just incredibly impressive. The American took the victory in Houston. Equally noteworthy is his performance in Hamburg, where Tommy displayed exceptional tennis skills and advanced remarkably far. Who would have thought he would perform so well at the French Open?
Paul came so close in his last tournament. Tommy started the French Open with confidence but encountered a nightmare in the match against Ruud. He was leading 2-0 in sets, only to lose the match in the end. However, it's important to highlight that his serve was on point during that match. And let's not forget, Tommy is excellent on grass. In 2024, he even secured a highly prestigious tournament win in London.

Mpetshi's story is starting on a rather basic note. The Frenchman barely scraped through the clay part of the season. Naturally, this resulted in a rather predictable drop in his rankings. All in all, Perricard's performance has been dismal this year.
He played terribly on both hard courts and clay. It seems almost impossible for Giovanni to struggle as much on a grass tournament. Yet, last year, he played shockingly poor on this surface, losing three out of four matches. You must admit, that's a disaster. At the French Open, he was quickly knocked out by Djokovic, though at least he managed to perform well in the first set.
Prediction
Tommy is in the midst of an adjustment phase. Obviously, grass courts are his forte. But let's not overlook the fact that Paul hasn't played for almost two weeks now. He hasn't had official matches on grass lately. Last year, he struggled with his serve on faster courts.
As for Giovanni, he's finally getting a semblance of opportunity. The critical question is how well his serve will hold up. On clay, his serves were virtually non-existent; it was a disaster for him there. Right now, Mpetshi is dealing with an ongoing series of three consecutive losses. Interestingly, their match in Brisbane went to three sets, with two of them ending in tie-breaks. So, on faster courts, we can expect a showdown dominated by serves.
